A multi-country programme highlighting the environmental sustainability of the European dairy sector, for climate action and the environment. The objective of the three-year project is to increase consumers' awareness of the environmental sustainability of the European dairy sector and its beneficial role for climate action in the internal market of the six countries involved (Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, United Kingdom/Northern Ireland). The dairy sector still benefits from a positive image in the consumer's mind. However, doubt and confusion is increasing very fast due to the dissemination of inaccurate facts and figures regarding the environmental impact of dairy production. While the European dairy sector is extremely proactive in reducing climate change and preserving the environment, it is vital that the role of the dairy sector for climate action and the environment is visible to European consumers, to be valued and recognised. The project will develop and implement a comprehensive multi-layered communication plan to reach different kinds of stakeholders and influencers. It will combine fact books, annual survey, symposium, social media and farm visits in the six countries involved, using validated data from recognized organisations, results of projects, and dairy farmers/stakeholders testimonies to capitalise on real action and results in the EU dairy sector. The expected results of the communication programme is an increased awareness of the environmental sustainability of the European Union's dairy sector, a mind-set shift regarding the European dairy sector in relation to climate change and sustainability, restored confidence and increased visibility of the beneficial role of the dairy sector for climate action.Budget: €3 600 000 over a 3 year period.
