"The “Time for apples from Europe” action is aimed at promoting the fresh apples and products processed from apples in Egypt and Algeria. These markets are not self-sufficient in the production of fruits in comparison to their demand. Egypt is the fifth largest importer of apples in the world with 3.9% of global imports of these fruits. The main suppliers of apples are EU countries: France, Italy, Spain, and Greece. According to the above data, and considering problems with the Russian embargo, information and promotion activities on the markets of North Africa are necessary. The main objective of the proposed Action is to increase knowledge about the benefits of agricultural products from the EU, the high standards of production methods in the EU among the target groups TG1 (distributors/traders, representatives of retail chains) and TG2 (consumers, creators of opinion, media) and to increase the share of EU agricultural products in the targeted countries. The campaign activities are aimed at promoting EU quality schemes and the geographical indication called ""grójeckie apples"" and at underlining that EU apple producers are obliged to follow the rules of Integrated Production and GLOBALGAP. The main activities foreseen by this two-year action include: participation to the Food & Beverages trade fairs in each country, organisation of seminars for professionals, organisation of charity events for the Ramadan, actions in points of sale. The campaign will also focus on the social media and the media relations. Common activities, such as creation of a website, definition of the campaign identity, publication of press release and development of promotional material will be implemented. The expected results are to increase the share of EU agricultural products for fresh apples and products processed from apples in Egypt and Algeria by 8%, and to increase the knowledge about the benefits of these products by 10%. The proposed budget is €2.5 million."
