This 3-year action is submitted by the dairy organisations of the Belgian, Danish, French, German and Irish Member States, coordinated by EMF (European Milk Forum). The Union dairy sector is the 2nd biggest agricultural sector in output value and number of jobs, & plays a major economic role. The sector is conscious of its responsibilities & has committed for years to reduce its impact on climate change and the protection of the planet. It has already improved its methods & is still continuously committed to improving, aligned with the ambitious objectives of the EU Green Deal & Farm to Fork strategy. This programme is based on plain yoghurt, which forms part of the Food Based Dietary Guidelines from the national Health Authorities in the five markets, it is an affordable product, and part of European food patterns and habits. Taking these factors into account, plain yoghurt could help leverage the link between a healthy diet and sustainable eating.
NB.This is the first EMF EU application that Germany is part of, resulting in two big EU milk producing countries, Germany and France, joining forces with three other EU countries, within a strong European dimension. In addition, for the first time, an EMF EU application focuses specifically on plain yoghurt, as an emblematic product of the European dairy industry and of dairy products, with a high penetration rate in each market.

The proposed action targets KOLs and consumers (directly & via KOL/influencers), & aims at educating consumers on sustainable
eating and the meaning of a sustainable diet, increasing awareness about dairy's role in delivering on Union objectives on climate change, and improving the image of the dairy sector and dairy products.
