Promotion of European fresh legumes (tomatoes, peppers and cabagges) in Middle East (UAE, S. Arabia)
Objective: to enhance the competitiveness of the Romanian fresh vegetables sector. In addition the two specific objectives are to increase the competitiveness and consumption of the Romanian fresh tomatoes, cabbage lettuce and peppers, raise their profile and increase Union specific vegetables market share in U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia. Thye European Union exports of specific fresh vegetables have reached 38 mil euros in U.A.E. and 17 mil in S. Arabia recording high growth rates during the last years. This will be achieved by highlighting the specific features of agricultural production methods in Europe and Romania , particularly in terms of food safety, traceability, labeling, nutritional aspects, respect for the environment and sustainability, and the characteristics of the vegetables in concern, particularly in terms of their quality and tradition. Both the general and the specific objectives are in full compliance with the general and the specific objectives set in Article – points (b) and (d) - and article 3 (a) of Reg (EU) 1144/2014 as well as with the overall national strategic objectives for sector. The action intents to open the markets for the Romanian fresh vegetables - achieving 2.1 million euro value of exports by 2021 and increasing Union products market share to 18.39%, for the benefit of the entire European sector.
Target groups: traders (importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, HRI sector), multipliers (mass media professionals and media channels and consumers (urban middle income nationals and expatriates of 25-54 years old, women and households with dependents).
Action strategy: The key message to be diffused is "European fresh vegetables! Fresh Quality and Safety!" and the action mix includes: website and social media, advertising (print and online), communication tools (publications), events (stands at trade fairs, B2B events, study trips to Romania) and promotion at POS.
Budget: € 936,580.00 for 3 years
