The three-year programme, PRO-PAS-EU, is presented by the following Consortia: Consortium for the Protection of Asiago Cheese (Coordinating Entity - region: Veneto/Italy), Speck Alto Adige Consortium (Participating Entity - region: Alto Adige/Italy) and Consortium for the Protection of Pecorino Romano Cheese (Participating Entity - region: Sardinia/Italy). The testimonial products of the programme are part of the sector of dairy products (Asiago Cheese PDO and Pecorino Cheese PDO) and of the sector of pork-based meat (Alto Adige Speck PGI).The programme is presented in compliance with the EU Regulation 1144/2014, Actions under thematic Priority 2 - simple programmes in third countries, Theme 10. The information and promotion Actions required in this framework are destined to the target markets of the USA and Canada and are related to PR, electronic channels, informative material and advertisements, information and promotion events, activities at the points of sale and training for the sector operators. €2,500,000 is the foreseen budget.The programme aims, in general, to strengthen the competitiveness of the European Union’s agricultural sector. The specific aims are: increasing and improving the knowledge of the quality regimes of the EU, including the graphic symbols, in order to increase awareness and understanding of the merits of the EU agricultural products, particularly for the consumers of the targeted countries; increasing competitiveness and consumption of the programme testimonial products, as they represent excellence and are concrete examples of the quality regimes of the EU and, as a consequence, contributing to the increase of competitiveness and consumption of EU agricultural products, particularly those with quality certifications; contributing to the creation of new market opportunities for the EU agricultural production; contributing to fighting the phenomenon of food and agriculture.
