From 25 to 27 March 2025, the EU Pavilion at Expo ANTAD 2025 - Mexico presented a diverse selection of over 180 products from the 27 EU Member States, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore first-hand the excellence of European agricultural products and their high standards of quality, safety, authenticity, and sustainability that define EU products.
"We are proud to showcase the quality and diversity of European food and beverages at Expo ANTAD 2025, Mexico. The EU Pavilion underscores our commitment to offering high-quality, safe, and sustainable products that represent the rich agricultural traditions of Europe," said Jorge Peydro Aznar, Minister Counsellor, Head of the Trade and Economic Section at the Delegation of the European Union to Mexico. "This event provides an exceptional platform to strengthen business ties between Europe and Mexico and foster new opportunities for trade and cooperation."
In addition to sample a diverse selection of high-quality food, including products with geographical indications and organic certification, the EU Pavilion offered a range of interactive experiences, including product tastings, quizzes, workshops led by European and Mexican experts and live cooking shows featuring renowned star Chef Juantxo Sánchez and Chef Mario Papa.
These edutainment sessions covered key product categories such as cereals, bread and pasta, cheese and dairy products, olive oil, fresh meat and meat products, fruit and vegetables, and confectionery, while the two Chefs demonstrated creative ways to incorporate European ingredients into traditional Mexican dishes.
Confirming EU’s commitment to supporting farmers and producers, these activities provided attending buyers, retailers, and distributors with valuable insights into the high standards of EU agri-products and their potential for the Mexican market.
The EU’s participation at Expo ANTAD 2025 came at a pivotal moment in EU-Mexico trade relations. Following the conclusion of negotiations at ministerial level on a modernised EU-Mexico Global Agreement in January 2025, European agri-food exports are set to benefit from the removal of high tariffs, creating new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
The EU Pavilion was inaugurated by Jorge Peydro Aznar, Minister Counsellor, Head of the Trade and Economic Section at the Delegation of the European Union to Mexico, during the Official Opening Ceremony of the Pavilion on 25 March. Mexican institutional stakeholders, buyers, retailers and distributors looking for opportunities to take their business to the next level were invited to attend the Opening Ceremony and they had the chance to meet with EU delegates.
