The purpose of the project “Organic Opportunities UK” (OOUK) is to enhance the competitiveness and consumption of EU organic food products in the UK. The chosen market for this project is the United Kingdom – an export market which is arguably of considerable importance as it accounts for 25 percent of E27 exports. The UK market for organic foods has grown 11 years in a row and in 2022 it amounted to 3.1 billion GBP. Therefore, it offers many opportunities for EU operators attempting to find new sales channels and expand their production.
The project has two objectives:
1) Increase recognition and awareness of EU organic food among a specific segment of UK consumers.
2) Increase sales of EU organic products in the UK.
The first objective will be achieved through strengthening the visibility of the EU organic logo and increasing consumer awareness of the merits of organic food production in the EU by highlighting the sustainability of Union agriculture. The second objective will be reached through encouraging and supporting EU organic producers to enter or strengthen their position in the UK market with the overarching goal of generating a significant increase in sales, both during and long after the project.
Organic Opportunities UK includes a focused set of project activities – both digital and physical – carefully designed to reach conscious consumers and buyers representing retail, wholesale and distribution organisations in the UK. Some of the ways in which the campaign will be activated is B2B tradeshows, seminars, PR, tasting events, social media and knowledge-sharing seminars.
