Foodex Japan 2025: Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence!

From 11-14 March 2025, the European Union (EU) participated in the FOODEX 2025 exhibition at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre, in Tokyo, Japan, as part of its Perfect Match promotion campaign in Japan.

The EU Pavilion at FOODEX 2025 featured more than 400 products from across the 27 EU Member States, showcasing a long tradition of some of the world’s finest farm produce and highlighting their quality, safety, authenticity and sustainability. The excellence and diversity of EU food and beverages was also featured in a series of product category info sessions and cooking shows, to inform and inspire Japanese buyers, retailers and distributors.

In addition to providing visitors with the chance to sample high-quality and sustainable food, the EU Pavilion also highlighted the EU’s commitment to supporting farmers and producers, thanks to European quality assurance labels like Geographical Indications and organic products.

The EU pavilion has offered interactive sessions including product tastings, workshops and live cooking shows with the renowned European and Japanese Star Chefs, Dominique Corby and Masahito Ueki, at which top-quality EU ingredients were used to prepare typically European recipes as well as innovative “Perfect Match!” recipes pairing EU products with ingredients from Japan.

European and Japanese experts also led a series of product sessions dedicated to olive oil, wine, confectionery, meat, dairy and organic products from Europe. These activities provided visitors with a deeper understanding of the quality of EU produce as well as valuable insights on how to best market these products to Japanese consumers. For the duration of FOODEX Japan, the EU was also present at FOODEX Wine, located in South Hall 3, in the “Europe & Asia Exhibit and Taste” zone, presenting wines from across all 27 EU Member-states.

Japanese institutional stakeholders, buyers, retailers and distributors looking for opportunities to take their business to the next level were invited to attend the EU Pavilion’s Official Opening Ceremony, where they had the opportunity to meet with EU delegates and leading industry representatives.

FOODEX Japan is one of Asia’s largest international food and beverage exhibitions. Its goals include maximising business networking opportunities for both exhibitors and visiting buyers and making the market in Japan and Asia globally diverse by bringing in food and beverages from all over the world. FOODEX is an excellent opportunity for Japanese food and catering businesses to be inspired, learn from top industry experts, taste new products, and expand their business networks. Over the past half-century, FOODEX Japan has facilitated unmatched opportunities, bringing together over 80,000 exhibitors and more than 4 million buyers to drive the global food and beverage industry forward.

As part of its ‘Perfect Match!’ campaign, the EU is leading the way in promoting outstanding European agricultural products to global businesses and consumers.
