Entitled Under the Radar: An Exploration of Lesser-Known EU Cheeses, the event will bring together cheese professionals for an interactive journey through some of Europe’s most distinctive yet underappreciated cheeses, led by our campaign renowned cheese expert Patrick McGuigan.
Participants will discover a carefully curated selection of cheeses from across the European Union, including lesser known products like Xigalo Siteias PDO from Greece, Queijo da Beira Baixa PDO from Portugal, Džiugas PGI from Lithuania and Sörmlands Ädel PGI from Sweden. Through each cheese, participants will explore the unique traditions, terroir and craftsmanship that contribute to Europe’s rich and diverse cheese heritage.
Beyond the tasting, the masterclass will highlight the EU’s commitment to quality, authenticity and sustainability, while introducing participants to the EU’s Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) labels. Attendees will gain practical insights into cheese pairings, serving suggestions, retail opportunities and emerging consumer trends, demonstrating how these exceptional European cheeses can bring new stories, flavours and value to British counters and menus.
