IBERICO HAM: GUARANTEE OF TRADITION, HEALTH AND QUALITY

"The European Project for Promotion in the Internal Market IBERICO HAM: GUARANTEE OF TRADITION, HEALTH AND QUALITY (IBEHAM) is aimed at increasing awareness and recognition of EU quality schemes of pork products, in particular the Iberian ham, elaborated using traditional and natural production methods (free of artificial additives or preservatives), covered by PDO Guijuelo. Each ham covered by Protected Designation of Origin certifies that the product has been produced according to traditional methods and within a defined geographic region and special localisation (in this case in Iberian pasturelands, dehesa). The PDO seal also serves to distinguish these fine foods from lower quality imitations and guarantees authenticity. The farmers and artisans who produce these hams apply traditional techniques of field products of impeccable quality for the health, perfected through the centuries. The main objective of the project is to increase and extend knowledge of Iberian ham, which is considered one of the best cured hams at the national, European and international level, for its flavour and texture. In the framework of the project, the promotional campaign will be held for three years and will address three major EU markets: UK, France and Germany. These are key countries with market opportunities to increase the presence of Iberian ham, according to the market study. As the long-term results, the promotional plan is expected to enhance the advertising and marketing of Iberian ham in France, Germany and the UK, increasing consumption of the product in these countries and attracting new consumers through raising awareness actions of the health benefits and high quality of Iberian ham."
