The European production model follows the highest quality and food safety standards in the world, controlled by a traceability system from farm to table, which guarantees healthy, safe and top quality food produced with the lowest environmental impact.
Improving the sustainability of the beef sector and convergence with the Carbon Neutral 2050 target is mandatory for the entire production chain. Not only to mitigate the environmental impact, but also because nowadays, it is crucial for the EU to guarantee the supply of safe and quality proteins from sources that do not have impact on the environment. Only the European production model is capable of achieving this with the effort and commitment of the entire sector and society as a whole.
At the same time, citizens must have adequate and sufficient information to know how beef is produced in the EU and what degree of sustainability it has, so that they can appreciate, value, recognize and differentiate the characteristics of sustainable beef produced under the control of the European production model.
That is why this promotion plan has the following objectives:
• To disseminate and inform citizens about the sustainability of the European production model in general and, in particular, about the measures that the Spanish and Belgian beef sector have been carrying out to improve their sustainability and how they are contributing to the Carbon Neutral objective.
• To disseminate and inform producers and all the key players of the value chain about the sustainability of the European beef production model.
• To promote and motivate among producers, the processors and the specialized trade, the adoption of measures and tools oriented to the continuous improvement of sustainability and, with it, the achievement of the Carbon Neutral objective.
