The EU Pavilion at Vietnam Foodexpo 2024, at which the European Union is this year’s guest of honour, presented a diverse selection of over 200 products from all 27 EU Member States, celebrating a rich heritage of some of the world's best agricultural produce. Visitors experienced the high standards of quality, safety, authenticity and sustainability that define EU products. Additionally, a series of informative sessions on various product categories, along with live cooking demonstrations, offered Vietnamese buyers, retailers and distributors insights into the excellence and variety of EU food and drink. "We are excited to showcase the merits and diversity of European food and beverages at Vietnam Foodexpo 2024. The EU Pavilion highlights the EU’s commitment to high-quality, safe and sustainable products that represent the best of European agricultural traditions,” said Julien Guerrier, Ambassador of the European Union to Vietnam. “This platform not only strengthens the connection between European producers and the Vietnamese market but also underscores our dedication to enjoy and develop further our trade of agri-food products reciprocally thanks to the FTA," he said.
In addition to providing visitors with the chance to sample a wide range of excellent food, the EU Pavilion also highlighted the EU's commitment to supporting farmers and producers, thanks in particular to European quality assurance labels like Geographical Indications (GIs) and Organic products.
The EU Pavilion offered a variety of interactive experiences, including product tastings, quizzes, workshops and live cooking shows featuring renowned Vietnamese star Chef Nguyen Manh Hung - Hungazit and Chef Hoang Van Duong. These showcased premium EU ingredients in traditional European dishes, as well as creative recipes that combined EU products with Vietnamese ingredients. Sommelier Le Thu Huong also conducted a workshop on European fine wines, taking visitors at the Pavilion on a flavourful journey through Europe's vineyards. In addition, European and Vietnamese experts lead focused sessions on key product categories such as meat, alcoholic beverages, dairy products, olive oil and table olives, baked goods, and fruit and vegetables from Europe. These activities provided visitors with a deeper appreciation of the high quality of EU produce and offered valuable strategies for effectively marketing these products to Vietnamese consumers.
The EU Pavilion was inaugurated by Ambassador Guerrier and the Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang during the Official Opening Ceremony of the Pavilion on 13 November. Vietnamese institutional stakeholders, buyers, retailers and distributors looking for opportunities to take their business to the next level were invited to attend the Opening Ceremony and they had the chance to meet with EU delegates.
