Held at Tokyo Toranomon Global Square Conference on 22 February, this event for food industry professionals included tastings of selected olive oils from six countries, an open discussion among the trade specialist speakers on the benefits of EU products, and Perfect Match! recipe presentation and tastings.
The session began with a presentation on safety, quality and Geographical Indications, as well as latest developments since the signing of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) from EU representative Ms Megumi Kobayashi.
Industry experts Mr Hiroya Otsuki of Primaveda Co., Ltd. and Mr Shingo Hiraide of MI Food Style then shared insights into their promotion in Japan in the context of the Perfect Match! campaign, complete with tastings for attendees to experience a wide variety of olive oils in order for them to find the perfect varieties for their clients and customers.
Chef Hidaka was on hand with Perfect Match! recipe presentations and tastings for attendees to discover for themselves the safety, quality, authenticity and sustainability of EU olive oil and table olive products thanks to their deep connections to origins and traditional production methods.
The European Union would like to thank all 58 representatives from the Japanese food sector, including importers, buyers and HoReCa members, who took part to discover why European olive oil and table olive products are the perfect match for customers in Japan.
