Renowned chefs to showcase the Perfect Match! of European and Japanese food with live cooking shows at the EU Pavilion
The 'European and Japanese Food: The Perfect Match!’ campaign makes a return to Japan’s leading food exhibition at Makuhari Messe from 8-11 March 2022, with interactive opportunities to experience the safety, quality, authenticity and sustainability of EU food products, complete with tasting stations and live cooking shows hosted by renowned European and Japanese chefs.
A dedicated EU Pavilion in the International Exhibition Zone (Hall 2, Booth 2D40) will open to visitors of the four-day event with an Official Opening Ceremony attended by the EU Ambassador to Japan and other EU representatives from 13:30-14:30 on 8 March 2022.
Chef Yanagihara will also be present during the Opening Ceremony to host one of the 15 cooking shows foreseen for visitors to discover and taste the excellence of European food products and how they are the Perfect Match! for pairing with local Japanese ingredients.
The EU Pavilion will showcase the true diversity of European food and drink, including dairy, meat, alcoholic beverages, processed agricultural products, olives and olive oil, as well as a section dedicated to the quality, health and sustainability of EU products.
With more Japanese consumers becoming familiar with European food products since the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement came into effect in 2019, a key theme for this year’s EU Pavilion will be the Organic products and ‘Geographical Indications’ (GI) - the EU's own quality certification system to protect products unique to specific regions and their traditional production methods. Currently the EU has close to 250 certified GI products.
The EU Pavilion will also be accompanied by 15 other dedicated booths showcasing the culinary depth and breadth of Europe’s diverse regions, covering Belgium, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Netherlands and Sweden.
