Grilled Japanese style caprese
  • Halloumi PDO cheese from Cyprus: 1/2 pack
  • Extra virgin olive oil from Croatia: 1 tablespoon
  • Tomato: 1
  • Shiso leaves: 6
  • Salt: a pinch
  • Coarsely ground black pepper: a pinch

Step 1

Cut the halloumi into 1 cm pieces and soak in water for at least 1 hour to remove the salt.

Step 2

Pat dry (1) with kitchen paper and grill on a hot grill pan (or frying pan).​

Step 3

Arrange (2), tomatoes sliced into 1 cm wide half-moon slices, and shiso leaves on a plate, in that order.​

Step 4

Season with salt, coarsely ground black pepper, and extra virgin olive oil.
