Grilled Japanese style caprese

- Halloumi PDO cheese from Cyprus: 1/2 pack
- Extra virgin olive oil from Croatia: 1 tablespoon
- Tomato: 1
- Shiso leaves: 6
- Salt: a pinch
- Coarsely ground black pepper: a pinch

Step 1
Cut the halloumi into 1 cm pieces and soak in water for at least 1 hour to remove the salt.
Step 2
Pat dry (1) with kitchen paper and grill on a hot grill pan (or frying pan).
Step 3
Arrange (2), tomatoes sliced into 1 cm wide half-moon slices, and shiso leaves on a plate, in that order.
Step 4
Season with salt, coarsely ground black pepper, and extra virgin olive oil.
