The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) and the European Research Executive Agency (REA) invite UK food industry professionals, buyers and importers to apply for an exclusive study trip focused on European processed meats, organised under the “More Than Only Food & Drink” campaign.
Taking place from 21 to 25 June 2026 in Poland and Germany, this four-day programme offers a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insights into two of Europe’s most dynamic meat sectors and explore premium products for the UK market.
The study trip highlights the core values of EU agricultural products - quality, authenticity, safety and sustainability - with particular attention to processed meats carrying EU organic certification, Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) and Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) labels where available.
Participants will visit farms, processing facilities and retail environments, meet industry associations and producers, and take part in guided tastings showcasing regional processed meats and specialty products.
This experience is designed to help UK buyers and food professionals:
- identify new sourcing opportunities in Poland and Germany
- better understand EU production standards, certification and sustainability practices
- gain insights into market trends and product positioning
- build professional connections with stakeholders across the European meat sector
Participation costs, including travel, accommodation and programme activities, will be covered by the European Commission.
Places are limited, and applications will be reviewed to ensure the programme brings together professionals with a strong interest in developing new business opportunities in the EU processed meat sector.
